“Child Labor: Analyzing the Contributing Factors, Impacts and Mitigation Strategies in Southern Shan State, Myanmar (2023-2024)”

We are proud to announce the publication of an impactful primary research paper conducted by May Thu Linn and Eaint Hsu Moe from Batch 6 on the Cherry Myay College website!

Research Title: “Child Labor: Analyzing the Contributing Factors, Impacts and Mitigation Strategies in Southern Shan State, Myanmar (2023-2024)”, the findings highlight that poverty, school closures, and social norms have driven many children into labor to support their families. These children often face long hours, exploitation, and physical and emotional harm. The study underscores the need for collective action from parents, employers, NGOs, and authorities to reduce child labor. It also calls for further research and awareness campaigns to challenge its social acceptance.

Special thanks to the researchers/authors, May Thu Linn and Eaint Hsu Moe, for their dedication and hard work. We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to Research Instructor Mr. Sai Thein Zaw and Advisors Ms. Chue Thet Lae and Mr. Myo Myint Maung Maung for their valuable feedback and insightful guidance throughout the research process.

We invite everyone to read the full paper here: An Analysis of Child Labor Issues in Shan State, Myanmar
